I had a super slow computer but a week ago my boss gave me a smoking(new to me) machine and now I can post without having to wait FOREVER for it to get up there.
So I will try to get you caught up since March.
Daryl and I celebrated our one year anniversary with a trip to Italy and New York City. Neither one of us had ever been to Italy and I had not been to New York City despite living up in Ohio most of my life and driving thru New York every year on our way to Maine.
Italy was BEAUTIFUL and all the churches were amazing. Almost every single one of them that we went into had paintings, marble and amazing sculptures. It was sensor overload and you didn't know where to look first. The food was amazing and dinner starts at 8 and last for two hours. They start off with an appetizer, a pasta dish of some sort, then they have a meat dish with potatoes of some sort, then dessert and then they finish up dinner with cappuccino. Some nights we were full by the time the meat dish came but once it hit the table and you smelled it you were hunger all over again.
We stayed in a small town called Pescara two hours outside of room at friends of ours parents hotel. The Italian countryside was beautiful.
We stayed in Rome for a day and half and walked everywhere which was awesome cause if we saw a church that we wanted to go into we did and didn't have to wait for a tour guide or the bus to pull over.
Next stop was New York City and we walked down 5th Avenue and went into Sak's 5th Avenue. I LOVED IT. I felt so "sex in the city' in there ;-)
Along the way we stopped in St. Patrick's Cathedral and got to hear a little bit of Good Friday's mass which was being led by the bishop of the diocese. We went to the top of the Empire State building and then we walked to Times Square,Rockefeller center and walked by the Ed Sullivan Studio and the 30 Rock building, this was all on Friday when we got to New York City and of course I had my first hot dog from a street vendor, I'm not big on hot dogs but it was VERY good. On Saturday it was raining but we went on a subway ride and went to Ellis Island. After that we called it a day and went back to our hotel cause both of us were soaked and tired. We didn't make it to Central Park or to where the Twin towers were but that gives us every reason to go back another time.
In a couple of our pictures you will notice that we are wearing black shirts that say real Food Real Music Real Simple..well our friends own this AWESOME BBQ resturant called the Iron Cactus and they have a wall that says where has your IRon Cactus shirt been,so we got pictures in front of well knowen monuments for them to add to their wall. It was so much fun and we can't wait to wear them on our next trip.
Well I am going to bed I will catch up some more later. Night and I hope you enjoy the pictures.
