I know I know...

I know that back in March that I promised that I was going to be better at blogging and promised that I would at least post once a month...well the 5 of you who read this blog saw that I didn't keep to it.
I had a super slow computer but a week ago my boss gave me a smoking(new to me) machine and now I can post without having to wait FOREVER for it to get up there.
So I will try to get you caught up since March.
Daryl and I celebrated our one year anniversary with a trip to Italy and New York City. Neither one of us had ever been to Italy and I had not been to New York City despite living up in Ohio most of my life and driving thru New York every year on our way to Maine.
Italy was BEAUTIFUL and all the churches were amazing. Almost every single one of them that we went into had paintings, marble and amazing sculptures. It was sensor overload and you didn't know where to look first. The food was amazing and dinner starts at 8 and last for two hours. They start off with an appetizer, a pasta dish of some sort, then they have a meat dish with potatoes of some sort, then dessert and then they finish up dinner with cappuccino. Some nights we were full by the time the meat dish came but once it hit the table and you smelled it you were hunger all over again.
We stayed in a small town called Pescara two hours outside of room at friends of ours parents hotel. The Italian countryside was beautiful.
We stayed in Rome for a day and half and walked everywhere which was awesome cause if we saw a church that we wanted to go into we did and didn't have to wait for a tour guide or the bus to pull over.
Next stop was New York City and we walked down 5th Avenue and went into Sak's 5th Avenue. I LOVED IT. I felt so "sex in the city' in there ;-)
Along the way we stopped in St. Patrick's Cathedral and got to hear a little bit of Good Friday's mass which was being led by the bishop of the diocese. We went to the top of the Empire State building and then we walked to Times Square,Rockefeller center and walked by the Ed Sullivan Studio and the 30 Rock building, this was all on Friday when we got to New York City and of course I had my first hot dog from a street vendor, I'm not big on hot dogs but it was VERY good. On Saturday it was raining but we went on a subway ride and went to Ellis Island. After that we called it a day and went back to our hotel cause both of us were soaked and tired. We didn't make it to Central Park or to where the Twin towers were but that gives us every reason to go back another time.

In a couple of our pictures you will notice that we are wearing black shirts that say real Food Real Music Real Simple..well our friends own this AWESOME BBQ resturant called the Iron Cactus and they have a wall that says where has your IRon Cactus shirt been,so we got pictures in front of well knowen monuments for them to add to their wall. It was so much fun and we can't wait to wear them on our next trip.
Well I am going to bed I will catch up some more later. Night and I hope you enjoy the pictures.

In a Month.....

Will be Daryl and I's one year anniversary. I can't believe how fast the year has gone by. It just seems like yesterday that we met again.
I wanted to go somewhere on our anniversary and I was thinking about us going on a cruise....well the cruise idea got thrown out the window.
We are going to ITALY for our anniversary. Can you believe it???? I can't. I am SO EXCITED!!!!!
While Daryl was in school he made friends with a guy from Italy and he told Daryl that if we ever made it to Italy to come and visit his family. So Daryl threw the idea out there and I got on line and found us AMAZING prices on airfare..so Italy here we come.
Come to find out Daryl's friend's family owns a hotel outside of Rome and they gave us a AWESOME deal. I can't wait.
I will be sure to take plenty of pictures and post them!!!!

Lent

Lent started yesterday with Ash Wednesday. I was disappointed because between the two jobs I wasn't able to make it to any of the masses...each year I kept vowing that I would take at least the night off from the night job, but each year it sneaks up on me.
I do practice Lent and I do give up something each year..

This year I am giving up coffee. Coffee in any and all forms. Hot,cold, whipped, iced, any way you can think of making a coffee..I'm giving it up. I hope I can make it.

Let me know if you are giving anything up for Lent this year!!! Looking forward to reading what other people are giving up.....

****Side note be sure to check back on March 4th....****

A Belated Happy New Year!!!

I have been HORRIBLE about keeping up with our blog. So i am going to TRY and keep it updated..or at least try and post one thing once a month..
So far the new year has been good to us. Daryl is liking his new position and he is transitioning in well. His crew is very pleased with him and they like to work for him..so that takes a little bit of stress off of him.
My jobs are good. I am looking forward to when I can quit working at the bar..but even though I don't like the job...I will miss my customers cause some of them I have knowen for over 12 years.
We are doing little projects around the house, trying to sort thru junk and get rid of stuff that we don't need anymore or will not use anytime soon. It seems like it is a never ending project and when I have stacks of stuff around me I feel like I haven't gotten anything accomplished.
A couple of weeks ago, we were offered a 6 week old male rottie puppy but I had to say no...I'm not ready for another puppy yet. Still too close to loosing Cerbs. I'm sure Fitch, our yellow lab, would love to have the company but I'm not up to it.
Well I will TRY to be more faithful and at least try to write a little note here and there!!!

YAY Daryl......

Daryl is home from school. YAY!!!!! Even though I thought it was never going to end..the 7 weeks that he was gone...actually flew by!!!!
School was very stressful for him but it was worth it to him...He graduated at the TOP of his class..I am so proud of him.
He is now back at work, going thru the transition from oil field hand to supervisor....Daryl says that this is WHEN the REAL stress starts but I think he will do just fine!!!!
